Key Requirements for the NJMP Declaration

Annual Steps: Completed within 12 months with a BCVA (British Cattle Veterinary Association) Accredited Johne’s Veterinary Advisor (BAJVA)

  1. Risk Assessment: Evaluate on-farm risks for disease entry and spread.
  2. Herd Status Testing: Conduct testing (such as a whole herd screen or a random 60-cow sample; bulk milk tests are not accepted).
  3. Control Strategy: Select and adopt one of six defined management strategies (e.g., biosecurity/protect & monitor, test-and-cull, or strategic testing).

Phase III Updates: Phase III introduced Average Test Values (ATVs) and updated testing/control parameters for participating dairy herds. [1, 2]

Submission: The signed declaration must be submitted annually to your milk purchaser (typically by December 31st) and kept on-farm for Red Tractor and supply chain compliance.
